This summer starting July 11, 32 Latvian children from ages 2-7, got together at the Īkšķīšu nometne camp. With them came parents, grandparents, au pairs, and their even younger brothers and sisters. Every day the parents actively and creatively involved their children in interesting and exciting activities which the children enjoyed from early morning to late in the evening.
Sunday Aug. 1 at 10:30 - Church services followed by viewing of a video of the concert by Ave Sol "Dievs, Tava zeme deg" ("God, Your land is burning") at the Long Island Church. All are invited. Subtitles in English.
For 3 days in July you will be able to apply for or renew your Latvian passport right here in the New York area, so you can vote in the parliamentary elections in October! In New York the mobile passport workstations will operate at the following times and locations:
Tuesday July 27 from 09:00 to 13:00 and from 14:00 to 18:00 - at the Long Island Church Parsonage (next to the church at 35 Beaumont Drive);
Wednesday July 28 from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to 19:00 - at the Yonkers Church;
Thursday July 29 from 10:00 to 14:00 and from 15:00 to19:00 - at the Brooklyn parsonage.
Hors d'oeuvres and refreshments starting at 18:00, Dinner at 19:30, The campers and counselors ensemble will entertain participants with their presentations. Please support the Latvian church camp "Nometne"! Proceeds benefit the upkeep of the Latvian church camp "Nometne" property. All are welcome!
